Dolly Diapers

For the past few months, Kat has been in tune to all things Potty. This is a good thing...it's making potty training much easier! She associates diapers and dirty pants with babies. And she doesn't see herself as a baby anymore (insert Mommy whimper), so she's passing it along to her Baby Dolls.

So when I saw THESE at 2 Little Hooligans, I flipped out! Sooooooo Cute! And a little wipes case to go with the diapers? Yes, please!

Here's how mine turned out:

2 Little Hooligans has a GREAT tutorial and I love the colorful fabrics to make Dolly Diaper Change Time more fun! However, when I tried to free hand a diaper shape...my non-artist skills reared their ugly head! I couldn't get a diaper that didn't look all wonky!

Enter Skip To My Lou! She's got a printable diaper template and I used the heck out of it!!!

I was ready to GO!

I picked out four different fabrics from a JoAnn's 99 cent fat quarter sale. I was going to buy some fleece (it's SO expensive...where do you get your fleece?). But then I remembered an old baby blanket in my up-cycle pile that was backed with white fleece. AWESOME! Then I picked up some velcro for the fasteners.

I printed out the template and cut out all my fabric and fleece. Then I followed all 2 Little Hooligans directions to sew everything together!

Whoops! A little bunched up...

Plenty of Whoopsies! as I went along...but...

All together, they look GREAT! And they are making a Mini-Momma-In-Training very happy!

Now, about those wipes...

I just used cheapy felt sheets that I had left over from other projects.

Open the top to pull out the "wipes"!

Here's the case and the pile of wipes. Again, I followed 2 Little Hooligans directions and I'm so excited with the way everything turned out!!!

Me Likey Monday!!!

This week I rounded up some great CupCake recipes.

We're big fans of cup cupcakes around here. Especially for birthday parties. They're cute and fun and so easy to serve up to a crowd! So here we go!

These Pink Champagne Cupcakes are from Betty Crocker's Website. I was at a wedding shower awhile ago and the cake was Pink Champagne...and it was YUMMY!

TidyMom made these AWESOME looking Apple Carmel Cupcakes with Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting...and added a in-a-jar option!

I couldn't resist these Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes from Amanda's Cookin'!

Rita Jean over at Country Maverickess made these yummy Lemon-Poppyseed cupcakes. And be sure to check out her entire Cup Cake Series!

Check out these Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes at Homemade By Holman...they look like Summer wrapped up in a dessert!

My Hubs LOVES Andes Mints (& so do I!) and these cupcakes would make a perfect treat for him! You can find them at Your Cup of Cake.

Mountain Dew Cupcakes??? Nuff Said!!! Nothing But Country has the secret!

Don't these Cookies And Cream Cupcakes make you want to lick your computer screen??? I found them at These Are Days to Remember.

These Shirley Temple Cupcakes are SO pretty and they're also gluten-free! I found the recipe HERE!

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan...and these Butterbeer Cupcakes from amyBites are a MUST to help celebrate the final movie coming out this Friday!

Ahhhhhh...Refreshing!

We don't keep pop (soda...I'm from Nebraska, though, so I call it pop!) in the house. Mainly, because I'll drink it all! I'm a total addict...mostly to Coke, but I'm not picky!

Our oldest has suddenly gotten it into his head that pop is the best thing in the world to drink...and he needs to ask a million times a day if he can have some. Ugh. Makes for a cranky Mommy.

So I'm always looking for something good and fun to drink that goes beyond the milk, water, juice cycle of our Beverage Lives.

I came across this recipe in Family Fun Magazine (love it).

EGG CREAM

Funny, because there's no eggs or no cream in it...but that's okay. It's an old soda fountain classic and it's super easy to make.

You stir together 1/3 cup of cold milk with 3 Tablespoons of chocolate syrup. Hold your spoon so that the bowl of the spoon touches the bottom of your glass. Then poor cold seltzer against the spoon. Pouring the seltzer against the spoon instead of directly into the milk and chocolate mix is what makes it all foamy.

Mine doesn't look much like the Family Fun picture...but it was certainly a treat. Kind of like chocolate pop! Our oldest LOVED it...but the younger two weren't that impressed.

It's something to try!

Pinwheel Hair Clip

Here's another Hair Clip I made for Kat's birthday.

I found the idea and a GREAT tutorial over at eighteen25!

Not to mention, eighteen25 is an all around FANTASTIC blog...I love spending time there!

Back to the Pinwheel...with some felt scraps and a button and a hot glue gun you get almost instant cuteness! Don't you think??? Go check out how to make them...but I warn you...they're a bit addictive!!!

Here's Kat with her Great Grandma (Nana!). Kat likes to rock in Nana's recliner and read. And Nana likes the incredibly large & crazy stuff I put in Kat's hair!

My baby now has bangs. Today we were at my parents (Nana lives with them) and I just got tired of fighting the Princess of Sass to keep her fine hair out of her eyes. She likes to Shaggy Dog it...I like her not bumping into everything. So my mom trimmed her a set (?) of bangs!

She looks SO DIFFERENT!!! They are growing on me, but I cried after it was done (I'm a total sap.)!

Fourth of July Goodies!

Did you all have a Festive & Safe Fourth of July???

I hope so! We sure did! We had some family and great friends over for a cook-out, snappers, play-time, fireworks and then we wrapped it all up with our town's Firework Show!

Here's my Firecracker Trio!

Anyway, I wanted to share two YUMMY goodies I made for the day.

Red, White & Blue Dipped Strawberries!

These were SO easy and SO yummy! I've been seeing shots of these everywhere...so I just ad-libbed.

I washed off a container of strawberries and patted them dry. I went ahead and cut off the stems. You don't need to, but I knew my kids would be leaving green strawberry leaves everywhere if I didn't! Then I melted a bag of white chocolate chips. I did it in a saucepan...people swear by the microwave, but I can never get the chocolate to melt properly that way. I dipped the strawberries into the chocolate and made sure a nice line of red was still showing. Then I immediately dipped the chocolate tip into blue sprinkles.

I set them down on waxed paper and then I popped them into the fridge to set. YUM!

Red, White & Blue Jell-O!

I found the idea and recipe for this HERE at Brown Eyed Baker. She cut them into adorable star shapes...go check them out!!!

This really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Plus, the looks on the kids faces when they saw the different colors was priceless. Plus...it was YUMMY!!!
